McLAREN IN LINE WITH ITS RIVALS

McLaren changed the design philosophy of its front wing endplates, which seal the edges of the wing and prevent high-pressure airflow from entering the area. The team replaced the previous apertures by a bent outline already seen on most other cars. One can also notice the leading edge of the upper flap is no longer serrated.

In Montreal, engine partner Honda delivered a new spec of turbocharger, which aims at improving energy harvesting on the turbine and ERS deployment. McLaren also received an upgraded fuel from ExxonMobil, with global motorsport technology manager Bruce Crawley claiming the fuel itself should yield a gain of around one tenth per lap.
