Williams : 40 years of F1 in eleven cars

FW18 (1996)

The FW18 was the evolution of the very competitive FW17 and FW17b. As always with Newey designs, the aerodynamics were remarkable and its Renault engine was still at its very best. With Michael Schumacher gone from Benetton to begin the slow revival of Ferrari, 1996 saw Williams take 12 wins and poles as well as six one-two finishes for champion Damon Hill and his runner-up, the already formidable rookie Jacques Villeneuve.
