The Englishman didn’t make any headway either on the Barcelona stop of the championship. 17th best in qualifying wasn’t stellar, but it was only 3/10ths off the pace of his highly touted team mate. But in the race, while Nico scored a top six, Joylon – who started on mediums in contrast to nearly all the others – spent most of his Sunday in last place, and was even overtaken by Vandoorne. It was another unsatisfactory showing, despite an eye opening sixth best lap in the race.
