So astonishing was his performance in qualifying it became suspicious, ideally timed to sell tickets not yet sold. Who cares, Fernando counted on the circuit’s overtaking difficulties to make the most of P7 on the grid. What he didn’t take into account was Massa’s nudge, which sent him through the kitty litter, costing him a ton of time. He soldiered on to take the chequers for the first time in 2017. Now he’s off to Indy!
