Ricciardo like his team mate got caught out by the wet Q3 conditions. In the race his chances were dashed when Alonso tore off a majority of his rear wing. He went more than a lap down as the team made repairs and a second safety car intervention would have brought him back on the same lap as the leaders, but that was not to be and the pit wall decided to call it a day for the Honey Badger.
