Scoring a point in a Renault should not be underestimated, even in a race which saw four cars you would expect to be ahead of Magnussen fail to finish. His race was set up at the start as Magnussen went from 15th on the grid to tenth on the opening lap and showed the pace to hold station and make sure there was a fight for the final point in prospect. Two long, competitive stints on supersofts ensured he had the pace to hold off any threat from behind.
