2016 Hungarian Grand Prix - Driver ratings

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Hungarian Grand Prix - Race Day - Budapest, Hungary

Kimi Raikkonen - 6th place, 8 points - 9/10

While his failure to pass Verstappen sticks in the mind, this was an excellent recovery race from Raikkonen. Made ground on soft tyres in the opening stint despite it being hard to overtake at the Hungaroring, climbing from 14th to 11th in the first seven laps. His first stint was very good as he emerged behind Fernando Alonso in seventh place but his second one on supersofts was excellent. Quickly dispatched Alonso and then ran a long, consistently quick stint which pulled him into podium contention. The first few laps on supersofts after his final pit stop suggested he would fly through the field, but couldn’t find a way past a determined Verstappen for the third time in seven races.
