F1i's Ultimate Driver Ratings for 2019

P18: Romain Grosjean, Haas: 6.31/10 (132.5 in total)
This season has been one of considerable disappointment for Haas in general. Even its two volatile drivers seem to have become disillusioned and deflated by the team's slow slide into mediocrity. Romain Grosjean stubbornly (and not without reason) reverted to an older version of the VF-19 chassis in an effort to revive his fortunes, but ultimately nothing worked and he ended up P18 in the championship with just eight points to his name. His F1i rating reflects this sorry state of affairs: the Frenchman did pick up six 7.5 rankings across the season including three back-to-back in Germany, Hungary and Belgium, but these were offset by scores of just 5.0 in Bahrain, Baku and Mexico, and a particularly lamentable 4.0 at Silverstone when he collided with his team mate at the start. Many were surprised when Haas decided to retain Grosjean for another season rather than opting to sign up Nico Hulkenberg; which means he must now deliver solid results in 2020 to prove that their decision was the right one.
