P12: Daniel Ricciardo, Renault 7.07/10 (148.5 in total)
The margins in this year's F1i ultimate season rankings are very fine, but we would still have put good money on Daniel Ricciardo coming out on top in the battle of the Renault team mates. As it is he just loses out, a reflection perhaps of the early races in which he was understandably still getting used to his new team environment after the winter transfer from Red Bull. The Australian only scored once in the first five races (in China) and even after that the points came fitfully, drawing some critical comparisons with his team mate Nico Hulkenberg as the season wore on. However the back end of the season after the summer proved much better for Ricciardo and he was fourth in Italy on what was by far the best day of the year for the team as a whole. We gave Ricciardo a 9.0 for that (and also for his earlier performance in Canada) and by the time we approached the conclusion of 2019 it was clear that Ricciardo had finally asserted his dominance at Enstone, while Hulkenberg was being politely shown the exit door.
