P10: Sergio Perez, Racing Point 7.26/10 (152.5 in total)
Now we come to the first of three drivers who scored exactly the same number of points over the whole year. Our version of F1's 'countback' system acting as a tiebreaker is to evaluate who scored the single best rating of the season, and how often. Sergio Perez picked up his highest score of 8.5 on no fewer than six occasions at Baku, Monza, Sochi, Suzuka, Mexico and Abu Dhabi - all of which clearly shows how much stronger the Mexican driver was getting as the season went, achieving remarkable consistency and levels of performance in the final third of the season. It made up for a troubled start to the season in Australia where just about everything seemed to go wrong, leaving him with his worst rating of the season of 4.5. If not for just that single black spot on his record, Checo would surely have been at least two places higher than tenth in our ultimate 2019 ranking.
