Alexander Albon, Williams (P14) 5/10
Another to try out the elongated opening stint was Albon, who was disqualified from qualifying along with his Williams teammate after it was found that his DRS flap opened… too much. Much like with Lawson, the strategy definitely worked but he simply had too much to do from a pitlane start, ultimately crossing the line in 14th place.

Lance Stroll, Aston Martin (P13) 6/10
Stroll deserves an extra few points just for managing to hold onto a set of soft tyres for 38 laps; they must have been on their final few threads by the end of the stint. But knowing just how hard it is for cars to pass one another in the streets of Singapore, it was a great strategic decision by Aston Martin. Ultimately the Canadian gained a couple of positions from his starting grid slot, but he was knocked out in Q1 as usual which means he didn’t finish in the points, as usual.
