Haas has had a spate of front wing problems so far this season and Grosjean suffered another one during the race. Having been outqualified by team-mate Gutierrez, Grosjean moved ahead in the opening stint and appeared to be close to points contention until he ran off track at Turn 3 and suffered a number of lock-ups, complaining that his front wing had failed. The team suggested it was the result of early contact, but an extra stop late on dropped him back behind Gutierrez and they crossed the line half a second apart.
