F1i's Top Shots of 2018 from XPB's Laurent Charniaux

Red Bull Ring - Renault in Red

A shot that instantly reveals a specific venue requires being in the right position, and this is easier at some circuits rather than others. Thanks to the red and white backdrop, there's no mistaking this location for any other track than the Red Bull Ring.

It often takes several attempts to get a shot that agrees with Laurent's eagle eye, although our man isn't a big proponent of filling up memory cards at a frantic pace.

"I probably take about 1500 pictures a day for a total of 6000 for an entire race weekend," he says.

"However, we only upload about 100 shots to our website. Keeping volume in check goes back to my analogue days when I had to save film. That habit has stayed with me to this day, which is why I don't overshoot, and it also helps the editing work.

"It's one thing to have 300 images to edit, it's another to have 3000, when you're in hell!"
