F1i's Top Shots of 2018 from XPB's Laurent Charniaux

Circuit of the Americas - Kimi finally does it!

Before his emphatic win in this year's US Grand Prix, it had been five years since Kimi Raikkonen had stood on the top step of an F1 podium. The Iceman won't be racing in red in 2019, but he'll still be gracing the grid.

"Kimi is very much his own man and sometimes he can be a difficult subject to photograph, at least out of the car, but his win in Austin was a massively popular one," says Laurent.

"The emotion contained in a podium shot usually depends on the subjects' propensity to celebrate. While Kimi was his typical subdued self, you could still feel his inner joy.

"What I like about this photo is that it captures a sense of vindication as he stands head down, holding up his fist, while Hamilton clearly looks miffed."
