Sochi - Unleashing the power
One would assume that the most spectacular action pictures in F1 are predominately frontal images, or panning shots. But Laurent Charniaux says a good rear-end shot captured with a 500 mm lens has a lot to offer visually.
"This type of shot which shows a car accelerating down a straight conveys a sense of sheer power, but it also offers a dose of dynamic technical detail, with a view of the rear suspension or how the wheel sits on the track's rumble strip," says our XPB man.
"And then there's the heat haze above the car which becomes a defining element of the picture, as well as the presence of the cars ahead in the fuzzy backdrop that naturally suggests "a need for speed".
