Bahrain - Up close and personal
At Sakhir, during the pre-race festivities, Laurent Charniaux caught a casual conversation between F1 young guns Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly. But getting up close and personal isn't always an easy task for the F1 photographer.
"Drivers are very special people," insists Laurent. "I often enjoy a better relationship with those with whom I work. But a driver can talk to you for ten minutes on Friday and then completely ignore you on Saturday. They're so much in demand that it must be complicated for them to remain focused.
"I've known most of the drivers on the grid since their days in the junior ranks, back when you could talk to them at will. When they get to F1, you notice a change after a couple of seasons. Some simply forget the past or purposefully select those with whom they will remain friendly."
