Bakou - A 'once in a blue moon' photo opp
Retiring from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix while leading with a handful of laps to go was undoubtedly Valtteri Bottas' worst moment of 2018. But the Finn's massive pain was the XPB photographer's gain.
"That was such a crazy race," remembers the Belgian. "Usually, we all make our way back to the podium during the final laps. While my XPB colleagues did just that, I held my spot and waited for the re-start, knowing that anything could happen. While this choice was deliberate, luck also came into play.
"When Bottas pulled over to the side of the track, I was the only one there, and all I had to do was aim and shoot. This picture garnered a lot of interest, and generated a big buzz over all my social media accounts. Even Bottas asked me for it! A shot like this happens once in a blue moon."
