F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Bahrain GP

Daniil Kvyat (RUS) Scuderia Toro Rosso STR14.

Daniil Kvyat (P12): 5.5/10
Daniil Kvyat was solidly nine or tenth in Bahrain's free practice sessions, but an 'operational issue' (it's the wrong tyres, Gromit) in qualifying cost him a flying lap in Q2 and left him starting disappointingly far back in 15th. While others such as Hulkenberg were able to make something from those ingredients, fortune wasn't on the Russian's side this week. After suffering wheel spin off the line, he was never able to make any genuine forward progress despite showing that the Toro Rosso had genuine pace on an open track. A clash with Antonio Giovinazzi and a five second penalty for speeding in the pit lane lane mean he crossed the line in 12th place. Overall Kvyat will be chalking this one up to experience and moving on to Shanghai without a backward glance.
