Another driver to make a one-stop strategy work and with it gain positions, Ericsson jumped Magnussen at the start and had Palmer in his sights. Perhaps caught out by Renault pitting both drivers on the same lap - and getting Magnussen back on track more quickly - Ericsson’s own stop a lap later was a second slower and saw him drop back behind the Renault where he would stay for the rest of the race having had a four second advantage prior to pitting.
