Fernando Alonso - 16th place - 7/10
Opted for the soft tyre from 15th on the grid but the McLaren pace was so poor this weekend he couldn’t make any progress against a number of cars around him on harder compounds, so by the time Alonso stopped for the first time it relegated him to last place. Suzuka is not an easy place to overtake and Alonso is excellent defensively, so he never lost a position on track but the lack of performance from the whole package - not just the power unit - meant he could never move forward either.
