Kevin Magnussen (P12): 7/10
Like his Haas team mate, Kevin Magnussen also suffered on Sunday getting his tyres into the optimum activation temperature. In the Dane's case the problem kicked in much earlier as he was running a much longer first stint on soft tyres than Grosjean. Even so, it was shocking to see the performance of the VF-19 fall off a cliff as early as lap 9: "absolutely no grip, we were just falling down and getting overtaken all the time" he reported later. Even so, the rate of decline from seventh place all the way down to 15th by the time he was allowed to pit for fresh rubber on lap 25 was really quite shocking. He was subsequently able to make good use of his new set of mediums, and even passed the ailing Grosjean and Ricciardo four laps from the finish, before benefitting from a Giovinazzi's late retirement to finish in 12th place.
