F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Chinese GP

Carlos Sainz (P14): 6.5/10
Carlos Sainz admitted coming into the weekend that Shanghai was the type of circuit that would expose the McLaren MCL34's weaknesses - and he was spot on. He missed out on progressing to Q3 in qualifying and lined up on the grid in 14th place, which unfortunately put him right at the scene of the accident when Daniil Kvyat's Toro Rosso understeered at turn 4. Sainz came out of the incident better than Kvyat or his own team mate Lando Norris, both of whom ended up retiring. Sainz himself was able to plug away to the chequered flag, and ended up finishing in the same position that he had started from.
