Pierre Gasly (P11): 7/10
Contrary to appearances, Pierre Gasly's first race outing for Red Bull was actually rather promising. The problem was that he was starting from 17th place on the grid, after the team didn't get their forecasts about circuit evolution right in qualifying which meant he crashed out of Q1 before he could show what he could really do. On Sunday he got his head down and successfully pulled off the longest opening stint of any driver in Melbourne. It enabled him to climb all the way to sixth place before he was finally obliged to pit, which dropped him into traffic. Even with DRS and the new aero rules, Gasly was unable to find a way past the cars in front so he ended up just missing out out on any points, while his younger (but considerably more experienced) team mate was celebrating on the podium.
